09/11/06 - BACKROOM CHANGES AT SCECC AGMShenley Church End CC held their Annual General Meeting at Abbey Hill Golf Club on November 9th with 12 members in attendance, an evening which saw some interesting changes to the Committee. The major shift came as a new chairman was unanimously appointed in place of Nick Rogers, chairing his last AGM. Ian Peacock stepped into the role after Rogers decided to take a back seat from official duties to concentrate on his family. Ian is sure to apply his full commitment to this vital role at Manor Fields, with his main focus going on pitch matters and maximising sponsorship opportunities, but took time to thank outgoing chairman Rogers for his past work.
A merry-go-round of appointments followed. Treasurer Stuart Burke relinquished his role following a number of year's good service to take up the vacant Secretary's position, with Andy Peacock puting himself forward successfully as Treasurer. There wasn't much movement in the captaincy stakes. Stuart Hardwick continues as Saturday Captain, with Richard Fletcher remained as Saturday Vice. Fletcher carries on as Sunday captain for the 8th successive season, Ian Peacock deciding to stay on as Sunday Vice unchallenged. Two seasons was enough for Jay Fletcher, stepping down as Midweek captain and moving in as Fixture Secretary. Stuart Burke feverishly took up the Midweek role - his action gratefully accepted after lengthy discussions into who should become captain. The usual course of the AGM saw reports from all committee members and current captains, as well as discussions on all aspects of the club. A vote for the Clubman's trophy took place, and healthy dialogue about club activites. Members and those affiliated with SCECC can obtain any of this information from either Ian Peacock or Nick Rogers.
